The terms for using the calculators, in plain English.

Summary

The calculators are free to use for personal and commercial quilting. We work hard to make them accurate, but they give estimates, so always check the results against your pattern and your fabric before you cut.

Agreement to these terms

These terms apply to your use of quilthelper.com ("QuiltHelper", "we", "us"). By using the site you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Results are estimates

The calculators work from the numbers and options you enter and from common quilting assumptions, such as ΒΌ" seam allowances and the usable width of fabric. Real fabric, cutting and sewing vary, and patterns may use different methods.

You are responsible for checking every measurement before you buy or cut fabric. We recommend buying a little extra for directional prints, fussy cutting, shrinkage and mistakes. The results are not professional advice.

Acceptable use

You may use the calculators, print results and share links freely. You agree not to:

  • Copy, scrape or republish the calculators, text or illustrations in bulk, or present them as your own.
  • Use automated tools that put an unreasonable load on the site.
  • Try to break, probe or get around the site's security.
  • Click ads you are not interested in, encourage others to, or otherwise interfere with advertising on the site.
  • Use the site for anything unlawful.

Advertising and affiliate links

QuiltHelper may be supported by advertising, including ads served by Google, and may include affiliate links to shops. If you buy through an affiliate link, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Ads and affiliate links are provided by third parties. We do not endorse the products advertised, and your dealings with advertisers are between you and them. Advertising never affects the results of a calculator. How ads use cookies is explained in our privacy policy.

Our content

The QuiltHelper name and logo, the text, illustrations, diagrams, design and code are owned by us or used with permission, and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may quote short passages with a link back to the page they came from. Results you calculate and print are yours to use.

We link to other websites, including shops and Google's privacy tools. We are not responsible for their content, products, availability or privacy practices.

No warranty

QuiltHelper is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the site will be available, uninterrupted or free of errors.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, QuiltHelper and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of fabric, supplies, time or profit, arising from your use of the site or its results. Because the site is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to US$50. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

Indemnity

If you misuse the site or break these terms and someone makes a claim against us as a result, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim.

Changes to the site and these terms

We may change, add or remove calculators and features at any time. We may also update these terms. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site means you accept the current terms.

General

If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. These terms, together with the privacy policy, are the whole agreement between you and QuiltHelper about using the site.
